THE WAKE UP CALL!

The need to create awareness and promote Computer and Information Technology as an essential tools for the cognitive development and growth of all Nigerians is absolutely now of necessity.

Picture of Abiodun Adeferati It is imperative now more than ever before, in this modern era of digital revolution of unprecedented innovation from creative minds across the world that daily make obsolete the discovery of early years, for us to come together with the support and assistance from people across the world, to create and develop new opportunities, discover new potential among our people and place Nigeria among community of digitised countries.

Despite the availability of human and material resources, it is a known fact that Nigeria is not one of the major technologically advanced countries in the world even not among the best on the African continent.

The statement below from Dr Bello H. Mohammed, our Honourable Minister of Communication, testifies to this fact.

“We need to bring Nigeria to the information society. We need to create the infrastructure required for Nigerians to access the Internet so that they could have access to the tremendous amount of knowledge on the World Wide Web.

The digital divide is of two folds; the digital divide between Nigeria and the rest of the world. That is one, it would help bridge that.

But in Nigeria also, there is a wider divide between urban and rural. There are several parts of Nigeria where people have never seen a telephone, not to talk of using one.”

Spottershouse-Finnet has decided through this website and other sphere of our operation with the support and encouragement of people of like mind to make available the means for us to close the digital gap and also promote acquisition of skill education both formal and informal.

I want to invite you to join hand with us, no effort will be wasted and no support, assistance and contribution toward the realisation of our set objectives will be counted insignificant. Everybody has a role to play in this revolution.

We have a mission propelled by a very clear vision and with conscious effort of our individual strength and collective purpose we can not only make our nation technology driven but we can actually produce generation of successful people with vision and dream to effect a positive change in our country and give us a new sense of direction and purpose.

Technology and sound education with excellent policy and proper implementation, has turned many third world countries that are not even half blessed with human and material resource as we are, to a developed countries.

We cannot continue to talk about a change without the instrument to effect the change, it will be wrong of us to even acquire the instrument of change without having the basic knowledge to maximise the use of the instrument to effect the change.

Spottershouse-Finnet is committed to create awareness and promote the need for mass acquisition of computer and information technology as the instrument that can bring about the changes we so much talk about.

The world needs us (Nigeria) to move on, they have told us. It is now left for us to place ourselves at a vantage position so that we can fit into and perform our expected role in the comity of digitised nations.

The technology has brought a new revolution like wide fire it will consume, in ruin and underdevelop those who refuse to be part of it.
